Vice President of Marketing

Based in New York, the VP of Marketing will report to the CEO.  The ideal candidate will be a rock star, someone who has either created or lead successful internet properties and who has experience with publisher solutions, advertising networks, affiliate programs, cultivation of developer communities and grass roots web marketing.  


Responsibilities

  • Drive awareness and usage of Daylife's publisher solutions.
  • Develop marketing programs to reach out to our publisher and developer community.
  • Define and evolve product positioning and messaging for all Daylife constituents.
  • Build equity around the Daylife brand.
  • Deeply understand customer needs through primary and secondary research and translate these to product suggestions/refinement.
  • Lead evangelism and guerilla marketing initiatives.
  • Develop collateral that optimally positions the strengths of our products.
  • Build and manage the marketing budget; evaluate ROI of marketing campaigns.
  • Manage and coordinate with PR firm.
  • Support the strategic partnership efforts of Daylife's sales and business developmentteams.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree, MBA a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years experience with building an Internet product or brand, B2B2C experience a huge plus.
  • Experience building and/or managing teams.
  • Web-native and proven passion for technology; technical understanding of online applications a plus.
  • Passion for analyzing products, customers and market dynamics.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

Software Engineer

Responsibilities

Daylife is looking to expand our Software Development team with proactive, self-starting, collaborative, world-class professionals who will thrive in the demanding, fluid atmosphere of a start up focused on shipping the next great thing.


Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in database and web application development
  • Expert in multi-tier application architecture for web services required
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python or other dynamic programming language required. If not Python, then willingness to learn
  • Experience in agile development practices and iteration cycles required
  • Knowledge and experience with HTML/CSS, JavaScript and Ajax style are a plus
  • A track record of shipping successful products or projects required
  • Linux experience a plus

UI Designer

As a Web Designer based out of our downtown Manhattan office, you will work on a collaborative UI team. We are open to all levels of experience and can hire on a full or contract basis. The ideal candidate for this position is a self-motivated and talented designer who appreciates the unique opportunity to innovate in a dynamic start-up environment. You should be comfortable designing HTML and CSS based sites, with excellent visual design skills, with demonstrable expertise in designing for the Web.


Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Senior User Interface Designer and Management to design easy-to-use, innovative and differentiating user interfaces
  • Continually iterate and execute interface concepts with Product Management and Engineering
  • Create prototypes/mock-ups to allow sufficient user feedback prior to development
  • Implement designs based on wireframes/prototypes in accordance with style guidelines
  • Prepare existing design for implementation, eg. producing optimized images

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5-10 years experience designing consumer-oriented websites (we’re open to years of experience as long as you’re really good)
  • Must be able to work and communicate in a cross-functional development team, and discuss ideas and designs with clarity
  • Understanding of web-based design and the implications of dynamic interface design

Unix Administrator/Tools Engineer

The Unix Systems side of the position will become a critical component to maintain application and system availability. The Tools side will oversee automation efforts in application and systems deployment.


Responsibilities

  • Identification and resolution of hardware and software issues as they arise.
  • System design, and maintenance.
  • Writing scripts/tools which perform practically the entire job you once held earlier in your career.
  • Participation in  on-call rotation which requires full knowledge of the infrastructure as well as off-hours work.
  • Perform homegrown application troubleshooting and support.
  • "Can do" attitude.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Unix System's Administration (Linux (Redhat, Debian), FreeBSD,OpenBSD, Solaris) experience.
  • Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
  • Knowledge of most OS commands/utilities (system backups, file systems, job control, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and various Internet servers (DNS, HTTP/ HTTPS, SSH, SNMP, NFS, MTA's, etc).
  • Familiar with best practices, security, and server hardening.
  • Intimately familiar with at least one packaging/deployment technology (rpm,dpkg's, etc.).
  • Familiar with large scale configuration management.
  • Knowledge of server quality hardware, and its deployment in a large 200+ server environment.
  • Strong scripting ability with at least one interpreted language (perl,python, shell, php).
  • Strong user of Open Source Software (OSS).
  • Self motivated with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive.
  • Ability to work on tasks, activites, and projects with minimum supervision.

Unix/Network Administrator

The Networking side of the position will ensure network availability and redundancy  to mitigate service interruptions in a  24/7 mission critical environment. The Unix Systems side of the position will become a critical component to maintain application and system availability. This position is intended for individuals with in-depth knowledge of both Unix and Cisco Networking Technologies. The ideal candidate would have held both a network administrator role as well as a unix administrator role, either in tandem or separately.


Responsibilities

  • Identification and resolution of hardware, software, or architectural issues.
  • Capacity planning, system design, and maintenance.
  • Participation in  on-call rotation which requires full knowledge of the infrastructure as well as off-hours work.
  • Perform application troubleshooting.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Unix System's Administration (Linux, *BSD, Solaris) experience.
  • 4+ Network Administration Experience (Cisco ios in a dynamically routed network).
  • Experience in a high-volume or critical production service environment.
  • Knowledge of most OS commands/utilities (system backups, file systems, job control, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and various Internet servers (DNS, HTTP/ HTTPS, SSH, SNMP, NFS, MTA's, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of Cisco's implementation of EIGRP, BGP, HSRP, OSPF, VLAN & VTP, QoS, GRE, IPSEC, VPN, 802.1x.
  • Experience with Cisco 6500 Series Switching Hardware as well as any Load Balancing Hardware.
  • Strong knowledge of system and network security as well as the tools used (snort, nessus, nmap).
  • Strong understanding of IP networking and distributed computing concepts, including familiarity with the functionality, operating, and failure modes of common networking devices, and the ability to analyze network behavior, performance and application issues using standard tools like tcpdump, and be able to implement solutions.
  • Strong scripting ability with at least one interpreted language (perl, python, shell, php).
  • Self motivated with a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive.
  • Ability to work on tasks, activites, and projects with minimum supervision.
